Called Out at Innovate
Another early start this morning at the Innovate Conference here in South Bend, Indiana. Freddy Breedon and I made it to Granger Community Church at 8:30am (7:30 our time). Arriving right on time, we went straight to the main auditorium. Beginning addicted to coffee as I am, I left my bag in my seat and ran back out to their “Connection Cafe” to grab a quick cup. Unfortunately, quick wasn’t in the vocabulary at the moment.
Seems several people had the same idea to get some “go juice”. While in line, we were able to watch Rob Wegner, Granger Teaching Pastor, begin his talk by watching him on one of the thousands of video monitors (no, not that many – but it seems like it). Rob was speaking on innovative communication, and began by talking about blogs.
He actually used his laptop on stage to show some sample blogs of the those attending who had been blogging about the Innovate conference. Wouldn’t you know it…he pulled my blog up!!! And where was I? In line for coffee!!
He started asking if I was in the audience, just as he had done the others he featured. I said, “hey, that’s my blog!”, and everyone in line started whooping it up! Apparently, Rob had a little fun at my expense as he actually zoomed in on my blog photo.
I had to explain to Rob afterwards that I DID hear what he said…we had a good laugh. Oh well, that’ll teach me to have my coffee AHEAD of time!!
Heard a couple of other great speakers this afternoon.. Troy Gramling from Flamingo Road Church in Florida, and Scott Hodge from The Orchard
Church in Aurora, Illinois.
Getting ready to finish up here and hit the road for Nashville. Hope Freddy doesn’t mind driving while I put the finishing touches on the message for Sunday. I’m PUMPED!!
